TO MY CATHOLIC FRIENDS

God, Jesus, Christian, Christ,

By Jim Towers
I recently posted a simple message to my over 400 Facebook friends among whom are a number of Catholics. I wrote, “There is one mediator between God and man – the man Christ Jesus.” I expect God willing, to continue with subjects concerning their false doctrine for fear that many may have to go through and suffer the tribulation period. The Catholic faith is a faith of convenience and tradition. (Do what you want and do penance for it without considering repentance.) It is my hope to enlighten them with scripture and to hopefully encourage them to study to show themselves approved, workmen that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of God.”

All my Facebook “friends” know I am an evangelical Christian and know that I seldom post anything frivolous. (However, I do though, express my displeasure with some political figures and try to keep up with world events to post.) With time running out to share the gospel and the rapture of believers soon to take place, I have a sense of urgency for those caught up in unbiblical doctrine and heresy.

I was raised in a secular Catholic family and seldom went to church except when my father demanded that I do so. I studied a little catechism (man inspired booklets) and learned prayers by rote. The Catholic church was cloaked in mystery, with “holy water” in a dish by the door of the dark dank edifice. The paintings and statues and candles were intriguing and impressive, yet I never understood the man made Latin liturgy and got nothing from it.
On the way to St. Mary’s Cathedral at the age of ten, I had to pass by a small Protestant mission for the homeless. Since it was closer to home I dropped in and heard the Gospel for the first time and “walked the isle” to receive Christ and salvation. Little did I know the history of the Catholic denomination and the corruptness of its leadership.

For instance, did you know that the title “clergy” was allotted to the feudal lords of the “dark ages” from 500 – 1500 A.D. simply because they were land barons with many workers on their properties who could neither read nor write? In that way they were bound by what this trumped up clergy said concerning the things of God. Many of them bought the title with money or goods.

Many Catholics are sincere in their unfounded “faith”. If they knew scripture they wouldn’t use prayer beads (like Muslims do) or say repetitious prayers, and do penance. They need to know that in the Bible, Jesus tells us to not be saying repetitious prayers, “Do not be as the heathen for they think they will be heard for their many words, but when you pray go into your prayer closet and pray in secret and your Father in heaven who hears you in secret will answer.” Matt: 6:7.

Some Catholics are still “seekers” while others couldn’t care less about the things of God. They worship “saints” not knowing that it is forbidden and that all believers are saints. They make unto themselves graven (hand wrought) images and worship them as well. They rely on works, yet the scriptures tell us that we are saved by faith saying, “You are saved by faith and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God lest any man should boast.”
Do like the first Christians searching the scriptures daily to see if these things were true. Search the Holy Scriptures to see if what I say is true.

There was a time in it’s history when one could pay there way into heaven and pray for those in purgatory. We only have one chance to get it right, there is a way that seems right unto man, but the end thereof is the way of death.

Some breakaways are now beginning to study the bible yet still haven’t come to the knowledge of truth; old habits are hard to break. Still others are becoming more liberal than ever with homosexuals being ordained albeit – the same can be said of some Protestant churches.
Today the Catholic Church is rife with pedophiles and hypocrisy. Recently, at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, a group of Muslim school girls sang a song titled Insha Allah. Can you imagine a Christian group singing in a Mosque? Soon, I suspect, the Pope will issue an edict condemning the worship of Jesus Christ on whom the church was supposedly founded.
We should be very leery of the current pope who with a liberal mindset tries to bring false religions into the fold. Already he discounts Jesus as a living metaphor and nothing more, He is the Way the Truth and the Life. He is the Bread of Life, He is God incarnate – the Living Water. He is the Great I Am, the only begotten Son of the Living God.

Thank God Martin Luther protested and brought about a faith that relies solely on scripture.
Having said that, there are many Protestants that practice false doctrine, especially in these later days. They are just as wrong, but I will touch on that in other articles later as God directs. You don’t have to be a Catholic to be misled.
Don’t be taken in by the false doctrine that prevails in these last days before the rapture of the church. Don’t be mislead by the apostate churches that rely on manmade thought, ideas and theology.

Most of these “so called” churches impose or demand that you put away your bible and believe in what they say, however grievous and foolish. Run from such places. Do your due diligence – read the bible prayerfully for yourself, see if what they say is true. Even so, beware because many have interpreted scripture to say things it really doesn’t.

Ask God to give you the Holy Spirit, (but certainly not to be cackling like a chicken as is done in some Pentecostal churches) who leads into all truth as found in the bible. These matters are too important to take lightly. Don’t let yourself be bound by strict unbiblical rules nor man’s foolish interpretation – what Jesus said is true, “If I set you free you shall be free indeed.” And “You shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall set you free.”

P.S.
I’m still searching for a publisher for my 250 page evangelical manuscript. My hope is to reach the lost with this continuing non – fiction treatise. In it, I write about the many miracles that have occurred to me in my over forty year ministry on the highways and byways of life and how these miracles correlate with scripture and prophecy. You can expect to have miracles happen for you too – if you give God first place in your life.

BOOK OF JOEL

By Jim Towers

According to the book of Joel we could be living in the last of the “last days,” in which case, we will be seeing visions, miracles, signs and wonders and portents (warnings) in the skies. The days of God’s seeming indifference to the reckless state of our world will be over and He will awaken people with these signs.

“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit on all flesh; your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, young men shall see visions…. and I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth…”

Some, if not many, Christian people in tune with scripture and walking with God are beginning to experience the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives more fully in these final days before the rapture of the church. With the outpouring of God’s spirit Christians are finally beginning to do what they’ve been commanded to do, that is to share the good news of the gospel with others verbally and without reservation. In the past we’d just go over and over the same old ground in our bible studies and seldom, if ever, bear fruit.

I attended a bible study group of about seventy people. The subject matter was about the calling of Moses in the book of Genesis. God appears to him in a burning bush in the form of a voice telling him he must go back to Egypt and tell Pharaoh to let his people go. Moses is reluctant and pleads to not have to do so. “I am not eloquent, and I am slow of speech,” he cries. (Let us not forget that he was human too and a hunted man as well; one who had killed a fellow Egyptian.) Like us, he was a sinner, but he knew of God at least knew of his existence. He may have been an agnostic like so many of us are. Moses may have thought, maybe the God of the Jews is who my people say he is, maybe He isn’t. After all, they had been in bondage a very long time.

There is a direct correlation between today’s Christians who were also given the mandate to share and thus deliver the unsaved with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Like Moses, Christians in the past were reluctant to do so as well, but because the Word of God must be fulfilled, things are just now beginning to change, and like God says in the book of Joel, “In the last days, I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh….” Which is to say that Christians will become emboldened in the last days and unregenerate people will become receptive to the good news of the Gospel. I for one certainly hope so.

Many Christians have become institutionalized, going to church every time the door is open but failing to follow Christ. It seems that many just want to remain oblivious to scripture or have not bothered to read it except in church. This they do to cover their tracks, or to assuage a guilty conscience, but you will know them by their fruits. The fruits of the spirit are love, joy, peace, hope, and self-control. Those without Christ experience hate, lust, jealousy, lack of joy, fear, and complete lack of self -control, as displayed clearly by the higher echelon of society and various celebrities.

This bible study group I was attending recently turned out to be a time of testimony. The first man approached the podium and began telling of his sharing Christ with a neighbor. From the sound of his testimony he had never done such a radical thing before. Was he a new Christian at over sixty years old? Chances are he wasn’t, but like Moses he was reluctant to do so, citing various excuses. Maybe it was fear that kept him from sharing Christ. Then again, maybe he was being politically correct and just doing what was to be expected in our culture – avoid the subject. We, like Moses, are His chosen vessels today, sent to free the slaves of sin from bondage.

Then, one after another the people in the bible class began to “testify.” I sat there mesmerized as close to five of the men and women testified about their overcoming their fears to be able to witness to friends and acquaintances. It seems they never realized that up until then that faith without works is dead.
This took a long time in coming and just when it looked like we were losing the battle for lost souls, just in time this verse from the book of Joel comes into play.

What with increasing political correctness, apostacy, lack of love and apathy, in despair, I had just about given up on my fellow Christians. But will we Christians begin to turn the tide or is it too little too late? Having been an evangelical believer for nearly all my life I have seldom if ever been hesitant to share Christ with anyone, and to be honest with you, I was beginning to get disillusioned and weary about the apathy in the church. Now, however, I’m becoming encouraged.

We must leave our comfort zone and reach out to the lost and hurting masses before the rapture of the church occurs, and that could happen at any time.
The only reason for this boldness is that the prophetic scriptures of Joel are being fulfilled again in our present time.

Wars and rumors of war, apostacy, the rage against Christianity, the rebuilding of the temple, the readiness of the Cohen (Levitical priests) to perform their duties, the utensils for sacrifice, the red heifer, the present anger over Jerusalem becoming the capital of Israel with the United States confirming it by mandating our embassy be placed there. (This may usher in the prophesied war of Gog and Magog) etc. I could go on and on about prophecy being fulfilled in our present time, but I think you get the picture.

On another note:
There is a new television series in the works having to do with the supernatural; things such as having an encounter with Christ through a vision or the like.
There is also a television show with Sid Roth called “It’s Supernatural.” While we can’t buy into every testimony we see on that show, at least it is showing that people are searching for and having supernatural experiences like never before.

MURDER, MAYHEM AND PERVERSION

By Jim Towers

The fabric of our society is being torn to shreds by scurrilous politicians, celebrities, liars, radicals, sexual perverts and greedy people out to scam people of their hard earned money. Today, murder, mayhem and sexual perversion are so pervasive in our society that hardly anyone notices anymore and it seems like everyone is only out to fend for themselves. Even some who call themselves Christians are becoming hardened to this truth.

While politicians and celebrities lead the way, (they, because of their notoriety are prominent in the news,) but you can rest assured that ALL of society is under the sway of demonic forces and we Christians must hold fast to the truths and promises of the bible.

Having worked with many celebrities I can assure you that they are no different than you and I, they want it all and will do most anything to get it. As far as promiscuity and perversion is involved, the same statistics apply to the common man. We are hard wired to sin.

Even among those who profess to be Christians but are actually institutionalized zombies – still insist on living life in the fast lane, and love pleasure and money more than they love God ignoring the passage that says, “ Thou shall love the lord God with all thine heart, mind, soul and strength ; and thy neighbor as thyself.” Other sanctimonious and self righteous Christians who should know better also practice perversion, apathy and some are even addicted to drugs or illicit sex.
On another front, the network news – as well as fake news take a different turn each day. With the advent of the internet, social media, and news outlets news travels fast and because of that, we’ve become immune to all we see and hear. It won’t be long until all our God given rights and freedoms will be taken away by the ruthless tyrant known as the Anti Christ whom, I believe, walks among us even as we speak.

Back biters, liars, pedophiles and atheists rule the day and the love of many has grown cold. Children are disobedient to their parents and parents are ignoring the cries of their children for help while they pursue life’s pleasures. Self mutilation, suicide and opioid use are on the rise among young people. What a sad and tragic society we live in.

What with all the murders taking place in schools and even churches now, many common folks carry guns and rightfully so. Fear has a firm grip on society. But in spite of all that’s going on in the world we are called to be salt and light to others. There is not a person that I’ve talked to recently who doesn’t believe something sinister lies on the horizon and the Gospel gives them something to cling to and hope.

The Spiritual person can see everything falling into line in fulfillment of biblical prophecy. All the pieces are coming together like a giant puzzle. The un-regenerated person can’t see this truth because he is blinded by Satan. When we refuse to admit that our country and the world at large is convulsing with chaos and confusion we do so at our own peril.

“ Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come”…. John 16:13King James Version (KJV)

I don’t mean to pontificate as if I was a perfect person, but in spite of my frailties I must do so.
People today are being given over to a reprobate mind and it’s not looking good for our country. There seems to be random killings and thuggery everywhere you look. We are, like it or not, facing judgment dead in the face and it’s only a matter of time before God gives up on us to do what we want; and in so doing, we will destroy ourselves and our country. God forbid. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, “We must all repent and turn to God before we too become captives of the Evil One.”

Could it be that the angels of God are out marking people as they separate the sheep from the goats in the end times as described in the book of Revelation? If that is the case, then we should be ever vigilant and drawing nearer to God with all expediency.

The next door neighbor was still cleaning up the mess in his back yard left by hurricane Irma, and was listening to music with earbuds in his ears when I encountered him from across the fence. I jokingly asked if he was listening to the Beatles and as he took out one of the earbuds he cracked a grin and said “Beatles? (With distain) heck no!…I’m listening to Dementia!”…Then he added with a sarcastic grin, “A lot of screaming!” Such is the name of a group I have never heard of before. The devilish screaming and cursing is a reflection of the angst young people feel today. Because they have no hope, many become addicted to drugs or commit suicide. We Christians through the Holy Spirit are the only thing keeping our country from falling apart.

“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” John 15:16 King James Version (KJV)

The harvest fields are ripe for harvest and with nowhere else to turn people are more than will to hear about the things of God, especially the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Talking to people everywhere I go I know this first hand and make no bones about my faith since I know that, “Fear of man is a dangerous trap.” and “Faith without works is dead.”
I would be afraid like everyone else, but since I have the Comforter living in me I sleep like a baby.
P.S. I may have found a publisher in Whitaker House Publishing, thanks to Michael Mliner and his good wife – who was once their chief editor. Pray that my book gets published, since it will give others hope for a miracle or at least something to think about…that God is very real and you can call on Him twenty four sevens. He stands at the door and knocks waiting for you to let Him in.

FLIPPING OUT ON #FACEBOOK

By Jim Towers

Have you noticed that the social media is becoming infested with people who are argumentative, and filled with hate? It is filled with various other people who harbor assorted agendas. Many are seeking attention or trying to fill the void in their lives by other than spiritual means – because they don’t have God in their lives. Hate and violence are beginning to rear their ugly heads on the internet. Expletives which were never used before are being used on a regular basis, the F bomb – right along with them. Some of these people are flipping out- right on Face book.

Anything and everything can be said on the internet hackers, traitors and Muslim extremists are making good use of this resource.

How much frightening information and/or miss-information and outright lies can a human mind endure? While many other non- Christians and Atheists are flipping out today, (We’ve all seen their antics on television and the like.) We believers of the bible can take heart. We, of all other people have the assurance that God has our back. “I shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” With so much bad news, this is imperative in today’s information age.

A perfect example of this is our president who tweets on an almost daily basis. Our thin skinned president takes on all comers and destroys them – that’s what I like about him. It’s been said that he’s crazy- I say crazy like a fox! If he didn’t resort to his twitter rants the mainstream news media would twist his words around to write something he really didn’t say. He’s got the self important news reporters over a log.

Some of us can contend with the assault of information bombarding us, while others simply can’t handle it. Others prefer living under a rock. In some ways it’s best for them to do so simply for peace of mind. There are plenty of others though, who for one reason or another join in the conversations of the day. This is going on more and more, as we all have something to say, and are becoming more vocal.

On Face book there are many self styled news brokers and evangelicals in different stages of spiritual growth. Many religious women have come to the fore plying their brand of Christianity on the masses. You have to wonder if they ever leave the chairs in front of their computers to go to the bathroom. They must really think they are God’s gift to others while pontificating on the web.

Albeit, I too have made it my mission to minister to my Face book “friends” (I supposedly have over 430 of them, but there’s no way of being sure.) Last night, a certain young man posted a rambling message about how he was feeling. In doing so, he used the F bomb in accusing someone or another of making his life miserable, and then he added this – “You don’t know what’s going on in my head.”

My contention is that the young man whose posts I had read before was flipping out on Face book. I wrote back trying to use tact, saying, “Jesus knows what you are feeling and he will alleviate all your fears and give you a peace that surpasses all understanding. Ask Him to come into your heart and life and to give you the peace he offers.” The information age is taking its toll and there are many wolves in sheep’s clothing out in cyber space.

I recently did this with a devout Jewish young man and we were communicating effectively until two other well meaning Christian ladies intervened with their “holier than thou” attitude and he drifted away. But he knows and likes me and we may continue to have our insightful and thought provoking conversations by some other means.

I work out at a local Gym every other day and rarely – if ever – speak to anyone since most are there to exercise and not to socialize.

A pudgy young unkempt lady about thirty years old came over to the stationary bike next to mine. She placed a Jehovah’s Witness bible (New World Translation) in the holding tray and left to get something before commencing her workout. I had just finished up my cardio – vascular workout and proceeded to the locker room.

As I was leaving I stopped by to warn the unkempt young lady that the JW was a cult and had just written about them on a Christian website. I gave her my card unconcerned that my phone number was on. She called later in the day and asked if she could send me a video. I didn’t know what to expect, and after I hem-hawed around I finally relented.

The video was of her praying for others but never mentioning Jesus Christ – a New Age religion. As she finished, she went into a trance like state and began to speak in rhythmic tongues. She was obviously a very confused young lady. I must admit that this one may be too far gone. The best I can do is pray for her deliverance. What a world we live in!

I was surprised to learn that there were so many writers out there and anyone can get their book published for a price, no matter how bad it is. I’ve encountered my share and had to turn them down since they never even read what I sent them. But just when I was losing hope in finding a legitimate publisher, a reader of my articles introduced me to a publisher who is not a vanity publisher like so many others. Now I have to wait patiently to hear his prognosis.

Lately, I’ve been encountering various trials and as you can imagine, it can be very disheartening, but it is to my benefit in building character, engendering patience and endurance.

If I’m to believe scripture I have to trust in the Word of God where it says, “All things work together to those who love God and are called according to His purpose.” Previously, I always believed that verse that says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” And so I always plunged right in to every endeavor. Now, I have to believe that God’s timing is best, and sometimes He just says, no.

MANMADE RELIGION

By Jim Towers

There are churches (cults) who claim to have the only truth in a re-written bible. One is the Jehovah’s Witnesses with their so-called New World Translation. This book was written by one man by the name of Charles Taze Russell who believed that Jesus was the Archangel Michael. Today the followers abide by the writings of the Watch Tower and Tract Society.

Another cult are the Latter Day Saints (Mormons) whose bible consists of fairy tales and also written by another deluded man, John Smith. This man also claims to have had conversations with an angel named Moroni, who told him the location of golden plates on which were written the secrets of God. Even the angel’s name sounds wacky, it kind of makes a person wonder if there was LSD use in those days.

If these organizations don’t extol Jesus Christ as God’s only begotten Son who died for us on the cross, then they are a man made religion. If they don’t esteem Him who sits at the right hand of God the Father then they are wrong. If the put any other name ahead of Christ Jesus then they are wrong, “For there is no other name under heaven, given among men whereby you must be saved.”

What is the true church? The true Christian church is where God’s unaltered Word is taught and where repentant sinners come seeking a better way of life. Tired and hungry for truth and deliverance, the repentant sinner comes on bended knee to God’s throne of grace. There they meet up with the Prince of Peace, Christ Jesus and find rest for their soul, “Come unto me all ye who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.”

Such people come to church in search of truth and the deep things of God and how to attain contentment, peace of mind and rest for their eternal souls. Many fail to find it in today’s politically correct and spiritually dead – man made religion.

In the true church some are new born Christians (babes in Christ) who truly seek and desire the milk of the word of God. Others are gaining maturity by growing in faith through digesting the meatier portions of scripture and growing strong by it. “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.”

Some of us attend church for the music and entertainment, while others are looking for a mate. Still others want momentary elation, rather than learning what the Lord has for them from His Word (the bible). In doing so, they rely on manmade euphoria in the form of various charismatic manifestations. While these manifestations appear to be harmless, they can have a crippling effect on those who rely on them and never fully mature into mature Christians.

And then, of course, there are nominal Christians, those for whom going to church is a Sunday ritual. Some of these go to church just to further their business ties or to appear to be an upright citizen. But as time goes on, and Bible prophecy is fulfilled, they may finally get their act together and repent – let’s hope so.
I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that we are all too human. Is it any wonder God and His beloved Son decided long ago that the second person of the trinity had to come to earth and die for us to show us the Father’s love for us with a great plan for our salvation? The word of God says, “All our righteous are as filthy rags.” And since there is none righteous – no not one, we could never have attained heaven otherwise

As for those who are only religious and without substance God says, “They worship me with their mouths, but their heart is far from me.” The key to this whole thing is to know God in a personal way and to rely on His infallible word, the Bible. “Every word of God is true; He is a shield to those who trust in Him.”

Today, we believers must take the opportunity to be on the offensive while we still can during the current administration. This window of opportunity may not be open long and if we ever hope to reach the unsaved it is now. With time running out we can’t be closet Christians anymore and it might be a good idea to extol the virtues of your particular ( bible believing church) openly and unafraid.

As for me, I attend a church where the bible is taught and the gospel preached at each and every service. We have two services on Sunday, a traditional one at 9:30 and another one with modern music at 11 o’clock.

If you live within 100 miles of First Baptist Church of Naples you should stop by and worship with us. If not, you can access us live at www.fbcn.org and get the times for worship on the internet. You’ll be glad you did.

By the way, a new faith based movie is coming out soon, titled “Generational Sins”. It sounds as if it is trying to be more true to life than what Christians are used to. With over twenty-nine expletives it portends to be a slice of life, something for the nonbeliever as well as the believer.

Although I’m in favor of more realistic Christian films I’m not sure how this tactic will work. I’ve always believed that what is needed is more thought provoking themes as opposed to hard hitting, in your face cursing. If this is the producer’s ploy, then it may not do any good in provoking the masses to action, since they’ve seen and heard it all before, over and over in today’s regular and often obsene movies.

DISTRESS OF NATIONS

By Jim Towers

On the heels of devastating hurricanes and earthquakes around the world, now distress of nations along with perplexity is coming into play from the prophetic scriptures of the New Testament-most notably from Luke 21:25.

The war of words is heating up between Kim Jung Unn and President Trump. A movie screen writer couldn’t have written anything more dramatic than this. Tensions are ratcheting up between opposing countries. With the background of screaming winds and roaring ocean waves our country draws ever closer to war. This war of words is making the nations quake in their jack boots. There is a perplexity that no one seems to be able to handle effectively. Yet, rest assured, God is in control.

This is happening even while we here in South West Florida are still recovering from the storm of the Century, hurricane Irma.

First Baptist Church of Naples was the largest staging ground for relief workers since 9/11. Many came from all over the country, some even from as far away as Canada.  This is the most well coordinated relief effort that I can ever remember. It was led primarily by Pastor Hays Wicker is a forty year veteran of pastoring churches in the mid-west and growing this particular church to what it is today. This church has grown to over a 6000 membership, which includes snowbirds from the North Country. He is one of the best in this country.

Pastor Wicker and his able staff went out of their way to coordinate all the resources available and in the distribution of food, water, medicines and cleaning supplies. On hand were Samaritans Purse, Billy Graham Evangelical Ministries, American Red Cross and others. I personally counted over fourteen Red Cross Relief vehicles in the church parking lot yesterday. Some volunteers were sleeping in the classrooms of the beautiful church campus while others arrived in campers and motor homes. The church opened up the huge gymnasium on campus in a last ditch effort to shelter those whose homes were destroyed by Irma and who had nowhere else to go – as all the shelters were filled to capacity.

Incidentally, Hurricane Irma made landfall on 9/11/ (the day of the attack on the twin towers in New York City), while the recent 6.1 earthquake near Mexico City hit on the very time that the people there were celebrating an disastrous earthquake that happened on the VERY SAME DAY, years before. What a coincidence! It’s almost as if to say that these were coordinated efforts to wake people up from their Godless slumber.

Right now, people are tossing and turning at night unable to sleep. They are wondering what catastrophe is going to happen next. Will we have war? Where can I go to avoid it? What about my loved ones, how will they be impacted? Will it be a nuclear war? How will we survive? If I do survive I may have to cook over a campfire. Where will I get water? How long can I survive without food and water? Surely there will be pillaging and killings by hungry and ruthless thugs.

These are just a few of the things most people will be thinking about which will give us the opportunity to share God’s forgiveness, grace and provision with them by word and deed.

During recovery, while I was at the public library I met a man whose trailer had been blown to bits and was probably there to relieve himself and to cool off in the air conditioned place. In spite of all he had gone through he continued to be the crusty old sea captain that he was. Knowing the kind of person he was by the things that he said, I asked him if the storm had made him repent. Repent of what? I’ve been a good person all my life.” I had heard it all before, and I followed up with, – you never thank God for anything. “Well, I call on Him when I’m in trouble.” Yes, and when He delivers you forget all about Him!” He won’t soon forget our encounter.

I don’t usually talk to others that way but extreme cases require extreme measures.

While checking out at the local supermarket, I noticed an older gentleman standing in line behind me. Since I know what’s going on in peoples mind these days in Naples, I asked “Did you ever see such calamity in your lifetime?” He replied, “No never in my life, and now with war threats from North Korea, it’s getting crazy out there.” The cashier, a matronly lady piped up, “It all looks like the end of the world!” I hesitated, but only for a moment, then I said, “I’m a student of Bible prophecy and you only have to read Luke 21:25 in the New Testament to know what’s going on. She gasped while the smile that was crossing the old man’s face left and he became solemn.

If you believe in something you should not be afraid to voice it.

I have a neighbor whom I was witnessing to – say to me, “I don’t believe the Bible or any other book with talking snakes in it.” Of course he was referring to the serpent of the Garden of Eden.

I stopped witnessing to him. That was two weeks before the hurricane. Yesterday though, while he was cleaning up after the hurricane near the road. I stopped as I was driving by to welcome him home. He leaned into the car window and expressed his perplexity about all the hurricanes and earthquakes taking place around the globe. This tough talking guy actually seemed afraid. “I’ll be home alone for a few days cleaning up around the house; you can stop by to see me and talk.” Now he wants to talk.

In essence he was inviting me to share the good news of the Gospel with him and I intend to do so. But at this stage of the game I will not be politically correct and will not sugar coat what I have to say. This is the hour of decision, no more pussy footing around.

Hurricane Irma was a blessing in disguise in that many people are willing to discuss spiritual things with you and I than ever before and when you ask if you can pray for them they willingly submit. Jesus said, “What I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what I whisper in your ear, preach on the housetops.”

THE STORMS OF LIFE

By Jim Towers

As we all know hurricanes have been with us since the beginning of time, but it seems that today they are more plentiful and more powerful than ever before – especially in happening to our so called Christian nation.

The Hurricanes that devastated Houston and S.W. Florida could be the storms spoken of by the Old Testament prophets. The scriptures say that this will be so at the end of the age; could it be that we are approaching that time? The Bible indicates that this may be the case. “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars and on the earth, distress of nations in perplexity the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them with fear, and for looking after those things that happening on the earth: for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” Luke 21:24

Today, Maria slammed into the Island of Puerto Rico, ravaging it once again in less than ten days after Irma skirted it, bringing heavy rain. They have no electricity on the entire island and they are in a world of trouble. If that doesn’t get a person to think about the things of God I don’t know what will.

In spite of all the havoc, many people are reluctant to repent or even acknowledge that God could be having a hand in this devastation- that is, they say – if there truly is a God.

This however is the first time I can proudly say I am a Christian, what with all the apostasy and pedophilia going on in the church, Evangelical Christians are volunteering and helping those in need who were caught in this powerful storm on a grand scale.

Our church, First Baptist Church of Naples here in Naples Florida has gone out of its way to help those in need. The First Baptist Academy with grades from kindergarten thru high school has come out full force to help in various ways under the direction of Kevin Taylor.

Have you noticed that Muslims, Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses aren’t offering help to anyone but their own and where is the Clinton Foundation and Antifa in all of this? Sometimes I think that people are starting foundations to line their own pockets and that some (Antifa) have nothing better to do with their time than wreak havoc for the sake of notoriety.

Even as I write this article at the public library, a powerful 7.0 earthquake has struck Central Mexico; over two hundred have died and some may yet be buried alive.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — A magnitude 7.1 earthquake jolted central Mexico on Tuesday, collapsing some buildings, cracking the facades of others and scattering rubble on streets on the anniversary of a devastating 1985 quake.

The quake caused buildings to sway sickeningly in Mexico City and sent panicked office workers streaming into the streets, but the full extent of the damage was not yet clear. Mexican media broadcast images of several collapsed buildings in heavily populated parts of the city.

The U.S. Geological Survey calculated its magnitude at 7.1 and said it was centered near the Puebla state town of Raboso, about 76 miles (123 kilometers) southeast of Mexico City.

Puebla Gov. Tony Galil tweeted that there had been damaged buildings in the city of Cholula including collapsed church steeples.

In Mexico City, thousands of people fled office buildings and hugged to calm each other along the central Reforma Avenue as alarms blared, and traffic stopped around the Angel of Independence monument.

In the Roma neighborhood, which was struck hard by the 1985 quake, piles of stucco and brick fallen from building facades littered the streets. At least one large parking structure collapsed. Two men calmed a woman seated on a stool in the street, blood trickling form a small wound on her knee.

At a nearby market, a worker in a hardhat walked around the outside warning people not to smoke as a smell of gas filled the air.

Market stall vendor Edith Lopez, 25, said she was in a taxi a few blocks away when the quake struck. She said she saw glass bursting out of the windows of some buildings. She was anxiously trying to locate her children, whom she had left in the care of her disabled mother.

Pictures fell from office building walls, objects were shaken off of flat surfaces and computer monitors toppled over. Some people dove for cover under desks. Local media broadcast video of whitecap waves churning the city’s normally placid canals of Xochimilco as boats bobbed up and down.

Earlier in the day workplaces across the city held preparation drills on the anniversary of the 1985 quake, a magnitude 8.1 shake, which killed thousands of people and devastated large parts of Mexico City. Now this is quite a coincidence or is it? It sounds to me like God is trying to tell them something. Could it be a call to repentance?

“And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house; and it fell not, for it was founded upon a rock.

The storms of life, we all have them, and they will continue to get worse. Will you be able to stand? …tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone so make Christ Jesus your foundation rock today

Nabeel Qureshi- (1983-2017)

If only our lives could burn as half as bright as his did.  Never afraid, fully equipped to tackle the toughest crowds and lead from the front.  We are all called to minister, whatever field we are in.

What a wonderful example for all of us to follow.  Spend some time going thru his vlogs on youtube and you will gain a wealth of great insight into the Bible and his walk with Christ.  We will miss you Nabeel, I am heartbroken you left us so soon but know you are with God and find comfort in that.

Thank you….

RIDING OUT THE STORM

By Jim Towers

Friday 9/8/2017

The long lines at the gas stations have all but diminished since most stations are completely out of gasoline. Those getting out of Dodge have left and others are continuing to leave. Home Depot and Lowe’s are sold out of plywood, gas cans and tarps.

Three gasoline tankers are arriving in Tampa soon on the orders of Governor Rick Scott. They will have military escorts as some frustrated people are beginning to quarrel and fight over gasoline at the very few stations that have some left. The line of cars on I75 on the west coast and I 95 on the East coast are beginning to swell exponentially and soon those highways may be clogged.

Within the next couple of days things will become chaotic in South Florida as the storm approaches. We have a lot of elderly people here, to say nothing of invalids and of course single mothers and young children. Already people are dying out on the Caribbean Islands.

I was going to make a run for it but I’ve decided to ride out the storm since I’m healthy and strong, and have an inflatable raft as well as a new chain saw. Since so many people are staying for one reason or another, some may eventually need help. I’ve also contacted my closest neighbors offering a hand to put up shutters.

In any case, isn’t that what Christianity is all about? “Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and your neighbor as yourself.”

P.S.

I may chronicle some of the activity on video as time goes on and have already begun taking pictures of the already saturated areas due to summer rains.

ALLERT!

Even as I write this information at 2:21 EST. Southern Mexico has been rocked by a massive 8.1earthquake causing buildings to sway and being felt as far away as Guatemala. There may be casualties but this just happened and I just read the headlines.

With 2 other hurricanes waiting in the wings it makes a person wonder if we are entering a time of judgment. (Luke 21:25)

I read where a woman said she would like to crawl into a cave to get away from it all on Face book. That’s exactly what the scriptures say will happen with the seas roaring (Isaiah 2:19) and earthquakes happening in many places.
